This is a famous supermarket in Berkeley, known for its impressive selection of imported and specialty foods. They have dedicated aisles for international cheeses, spices, Asian ingredients, wine, cereals, rice, and so much more. I grabbed a focaccia Italian sub from the food counter, and it was huge, fresh, and delicious. They also have a rotating selection of fresh prepared foods, along with an incredible produce section. I’ve honestly never seen so many varieties of mushrooms in one place! The store feels like an elevated, fancy Whole Foods. If you enjoy exploring unique groceries and international foods, this place is definitely worth a visit. The selection and freshness are outstanding.

berkeley bowl is off the HOOK! can parking be a nightmare? YES! will you spend more than you expected? YES! are you going to get yelled at by an aggro hippie? LIKELY! is it all worth it??? YOU BETCHA! :) go for the experience. return for the produce section! seriously, best selection of fruit and veg you are going to find in the bay area. budget an extra 20-30 minutes just to get through this part of the store. :)

What a wonderful grocery store! It’s like if Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s had a more produce focused cousin. The prices are a little more but you will be buying quality. My friends wouldn’t stop complimenting the fresh fruit salad we made.
